Fillmore's Restaurants are Serving up the Old West
(and then some)

When locals think of Fillmore, they think of all the Westerns that were shot there over the years. They also think of a laid-back, easy-going small town that couldn't care less about the hustle-and-bustle of Los Angeles less than 2 hours away. Los angeles residents, however, think of Fillmore as a great place to stop in to take a few cays off - another great place for a local, weekend getaway (with a bunch of great food as well).

Downtown Fillmore is the place to be if you want to spend an afternoon shopping for antiques, collectibles and, of course, great down-home food. In fact, you can even go wine tasting right there in Downtown Fillmore at Geissinger's Winery. After that, you can head over a couple blocks for some tea at Bella's Tea & Treats.

Once you've walked through downtown for a while, you'll start to notice some great smells coming from a couple of great, independent restaurants on Central Avenue, just beyond Bella's.

On Central Avenue, you'll have three great food options from which to choose. Don't get picky, now - after all, you're probably there for the weekend. Check out any one of these first for lunch, then another for dinner, then swap them out the next day if you'd like. You can hit La Fondita Mexican Food for lunch, then go to Central Station BBQ for dinner... then do it the other way around the next day. Either way, you're gonna be full and you're gonna have a great meal.

And if you want to compare one barbecue joint to another, check out the cleverly-titled Barbecue Place on West Ventura Street. Remember, it's a small town, so getting from one place to the next won't be difficult. It will be, however, worth the time to check them all out.
