Ojai's Independent Restaurants are the Icing on the Cake of a Great Getaway.
![]() Ojai is tucked away in the northern end of Ventura County, bordering against the Los Padres National Forest. One of the most peaceful places you'll find (especially given its proximity to the greater Los Angeles area), Ojai boasts a wonderful climate, lots of natural surroundings, and a community that pulls together to keep much of their food locally grown, organic and, well, delicious.
Ojai's population is under 8,000 residents, but they probably take on just as many visitors each year, if not more so. Day spas and other relaxing spots are common destinations in Ojai, and their local restaurants are just what the doctor ordered when it comes to great food on a great getaway. There are a lot of high-end dining options that serve classic French cuisine, local California and wine-country cuisine and, of course, local, organic produce from right there in the Ojai Valley. Don't get us wrong, though - if you're not the fine-dining type, there are still plenty of options for you, too. Great diners, awesome barbecue, and some more-general fare at a few, local Italian restaurants that will still blow you away. Ojai is the epitome of showing how great food starts with great ingredients. With the local produce, seafood, meats and wines, you really can't have a bad meal in any of Ojai's independent, local restaurants.
