Montecito Restaurants and Coastal Cuisine Go Hand in Hand
![]() Dining in Montecito doesn't mean you have to eat seafood - that's not necessarily the definition of coastal cuisine. Honestly, no matter what you're eating or drinking, when you're in a perfect, coastal climate, everything tastes better.
While Montecito boasts a population of under 10,000, the restaurants in Montecito are excellent. Even if you're not planning to spend time in Montecito, you may want to take a quick, 10-minute drive down El Camino Real (also know as Highway 1 or the 101 freeway) for a visit through Montecito. Montecito restaurants offer some of the freshest California cuisine, and many of the restaurants in the area like to offer organic, local, sustainable seafood, meats, vegetables and even local wines. Just like Santa Barbara, Montecito enjoys some of the best weather all year long. Montecito's Mediterranean climate keeps the local restaurants comfortable 12 months a year with a nice, cool summer and a relatively warm winter. Rarely does the temperature escape the 60-80-degree range, so feel free to dine outside any time of year. Grab a glass of wine, some fresh bread and cheese, or maybe drop by a local cafe or gourmet shop. Better yet, drop in for a dinner you'll never forget at one of Montecito's great, independent restaurants. Who knows? You may even rub elbows with a celebrity or two... not that you'll notice while you're eating some of the best food you've ever had.
